Damaris is a resident of Kitale in Western Kenya .She is aged twenty-six years and married with two children. She has been in active farming for six successive years, producing mainly milk and poultry products for the local market.
Damaris has made a request for a loan of 62,400 KES from Juhudi Kilimo. She will use the loan to buy and insure a dairy cow. She plans to run a farm of at least five dairy cows and is confident she will be able to meet her family needs as well as improve her farming business.
She mentions animal diseases as the main challenge in farming.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
