Majukumu Group's story

Alex is a member of Majukumu Group in Webuye District. He is pictured with 15 One Acre Fund farmers, 5 women and 10 men. Alex is standing on the right with his hand raised. He is receiving an input loan for ½ acre of sweet potato, millet, and sorghum cultivation. Alex is a new One Acre Fund farmer and is excited for the 2013 Long Rains season. He joined One Acre Fund in order to rest assured of reliable input delivery and grow enough food for the family.

Alex managed to harvest 5 bags of maize on 1 acre of land last year. As a One Acre Fund farmer, he hopes to harvest even more. He plans to use the money that he earns from his next harvest to send his children to school and repair his home. For the 2013 Long Rains season, Alex’s group members will take input loans of ½ acre each. In total, this group will receive input loans for use on 7.5 acres of land.
