A loan of $3,500 helped a member to buy eucalyptus seedlings and fertilizers as well as to pay for plantation maintenance support.

Salome's Group's story

Salome is a 52-year-old maize farmer and trader. She has four children and is a widow whose husband has passed away. Salome's maize trade is affected by other buyers who sell at competitively lower prices.

When asked why she is joining the KOMAZA micro-forestry program, Salome said, "After it was explained to me, I decided I loved what KOMAZA is doing as I have always planted trees for my own use."

She is requesting a loan to buy eucalyptus seedlings and fertilizers as well as to pay for plantation maintenance support.

With the profits she earns from her tree farm, Salome plans to buy a plot of land in the local town and build a house.
