Rosa Hilda's story

Every 15 days the communal bank "La Inmaculada" meets in Tosagua. The city is known as a very dynamic location where most of the inhabitants are involved in agriculture and live-stock farming because of the lush vegetation.

This is where Rosa, 37, lives. She is married and has three children, ages 12, 10 and 7, who go to school. Her husband is working overseas.

Rosa is a good homemaker and mother who has her own business. With her income she pays for children's education. She works selling clothing and sandals. She also is a beauty consultant and sells Yanbal, Avon and Saysons products (beauty items, cosmetics, perfume and women's accessories). She works three days a week and sells on credit. She collects payment every week or every 15 days, depending on the clients. She receives the ordered products at home and buys the clothing and sandals in Guayaquil.

This loan is to buy perfumes, creams, cosmetics, sandals, and clothing. She has been a member of the communal bank for 12 years. She likes it because her business has improved thanks to the loans.

Her dream is to own a boutique.
