A loan of $250 helped to buy merchandise.

Javier Enrique's story

Javier, 20, is single and lives in the city of Ica with his parents and siblings. He is a person who is kind, enthusiastic, and hardworking, and he has a strong desire to succeed. Unfortunately, due to a lack of financial resources and the need to work to help his parents, Javier has not been able to study for a degree in engineering systems, but he dreams of being able to do this. In his free time, he likes to play soccer with his friends, and at times he cooks the rich "lomo saltado" dish to share with his family.

On his own initiative, and with a lot of hard work and dedication, Javier has a small grocery store business. He works every day for about 10 hours, and he believes that it is going well because of his good prices and the friendly service he provides to his customers.

Javier is very grateful to the Kiva lenders, because thanks to the help they have provided he will be able to buy a greater quantity and variety of merchandise, such as candy, drinks, rice, sacks of sugar, beans, and other products. In this way, Javier will be able to have a store that is better stocked with merchandise and will be able to serve more customers, so that he can continue to work and strive to get ahead.
