A loan of $1,600 helped to buy supplies and tools to improve her business.

Fanny Alexandra's story

Fanny lives in Parroquia de Río Verde, a historic area in Santo Domingo. This city is the capital of the province of Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas in Ecuador. In recent years, this province has experienced sustained high growth rates.

The city is noted for its cuisine and its delicious fruits. There is also a lot of commerce, since the city has become a commercial hub between the sierra and coastal regions. There are also a number of tourist attractions, which along with the warm climate attract many domestic and international visitors. For this reason, the majority of the residents are involved in some type of commercial activity or services for locals and tourists.

Fanny is 35 years old and was born in Pelile. She completed primary school. She got married at a very young age to her husband Kleber, who is now 39 years old. He works on salvaged automobiles.

They have four children who are now studying in a public school. They work hard every day for their children so that they can have everything necessary to continue in their studies. Thanks to the experience of a friend, Fanny learned the business of selling all types of food from a cart. She has been doing this for six years in response to the economic difficulties from which her family was suffering.

She currently needs a loan to buy some tools and supplies such as condiments, ingredients and utensils. This will enable her to provide better service to her customers. This is her first loan with Fundación Alternativa. In this institution she has found a great deal of support, trust and flexibility. She hopes to raise her family's standard of living and over time to expand her business and enhance its image.
