A loan of $825 helped to buy a computer for her son.

Elena Petrona's story

Elena is 37 years old and has five children, ages 1, 3, 10, 13 and 18. She sells petticoats and skirts for women in various markets in the city of La Paz, Bolivia. This is her first loan with Kiva partner Emprender.

Elena will use this loan to purchase a computer for her children. Her oldest has already graduated from high school and needs the computer for his university studies. The loan will be very useful in paying for personal expenses as well. If there are any remaining funds, they will be used to buy clothing to stock her stall.

Elena faces challenges in her business that include maintaining sufficient inventory. Elena is a very hardworking person who is happy for this opportunity; her business is the only activity that allows her to support her family.
