A loan of $650 helped to purchase an industrial sewing machine and fabric.

Pilar's story

Pilar is 50 years old. She works making school and industry uniforms. She has 20 years of experience, ever since she started her first year at the school where she studied. She also saw her mum work as a seamstress and from her she learned the love and dedication to the trade. Her family is formed by her husband and 3 children, aged 16 to 27 years old, who she dreams will be very successful. They are her inspiration. She conducts her sales and purchases in cash and she distributes directly to the end clients, whom she has gained over the time and who remain loyal customers. Her goal is to have a better structured sewing workshop, and she works permanently towards that. She is applying for her first Kiva loan through the lending partner, Fundacion Mario Santo Domingo, to purchase an industrial sewing machine and fabric, in order to improve the time of production and provide a perfect finishing touch to her products. Her investment looks to be successful because with it she will have a positive impact on the market and will improve her positioning in it.
