A loan of $475 helped to buy sewing materials such as thread and needles.

Damaris's story

Damaris, age 31, is married to Odilo, who has a job. They live with their two children and Damaris' grandfather. They are comfortable in their own home. Damarias sews, a job that she learned when she was studying at an occupational school. She later bought a sewing machine and a darning machine. She set them up in her own home where she serves her customers. They return to her because of her good work. She has gained their acceptance and they recommend her to other people in the area. She started her business one year ago, and she works alone. She enjoys sewing because it allows her to help her husband with the household costs, but it is a bit inconvenient because she gets physically tired from being seated all the time. However, this does not discourage her and she keeps working hard. She plans to expand her business and buy other sewing machines which will allow her to sew better garments. This is her third loan with Kiva, so she would like to say thank you for this support in continuing with her business. She is requesting 1200 soles for the purchase of sewing materials such as thread, fabric, and buttons wholesale.
