Mrs.Chan S. I., age 39, is a mother of three children and lives with her husband on the outskirts of Phnom Penh. One of her children is a waiter, another a student, and one is too young to attend school. Mrs. Chan is a garment worker earning, on average, $2.50 each day, while her husband, Srun Vuthy, works with his son in a nearby restaurant as a waiter. To achieve additional income, this couple is requesting a $500 loan to purchase cows to breed. In the future, the family also hopes to raise poultry.
