A loan of $1,775 helped to buy clothes and tailoring supplies in high volume.

Silena's story

Silena is 29 years old and has a tailoring workshop in the neighborhood where she was born. Little by little, she has increased her clients since she learned tailoring in her mother's office fifteen years ago, moving between clothes and machines in the shop in her mother's house. Her main products are blouses, skirts, feminine dresses, and recently bathing suits, focusing a bit on point textiles. She has gone through the domestic market and is in one made by independent sellers which sell her products and also gain money. Now she is applying for a kiva loan, her first financing from the Fundación Mario Santo Domingo, through which she will buy cloth and tailoring supplies in high volume to gain discounts and augment her production, sustaining herself in the market with good prices. Her goal is to expand her operation structure and she is working on increasing her market to advance toward this goal and finally have her own home, which is her biggest dream.
