A loan of $1,125 helped to purchase construction supplies and other items in order to repair the roof of the restaurant.

Jorge Luis's story

42-year-old Jorge lives in Santo Tomás, a town in the department of the Atlantic, very close to the city of Barranquilla. There he owns a restaurant and also rents out chairs and tables for events, in addition to selling bricks. He started his business 8 year ago, when he became unemployed. He decided to obtain an independent source of income by selling soups, to which he gradually added meals. Then, six months ago, he started selling bricks and renting out chairs, in order to have multiple income sources. The community of Santo Tomás gives recognition to Jorge's businesses, because his ability to serve has gained him many customers. He currently needs to remodel the venue where his restaurant is located. That's precisely the reason why he requests a Kiva loan, his first loan with Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. With it he'll purchase construction supplies and other items so he can repair the roof of the restaurant. By doing that he'll provide more comfort for his clientele, which grows on a daily basis and demands better service.
