A loan of $1,375 helped to buy noodles, flour, oil, herbs, tapioca, cookies, candy, drinks and other items.

Marcelina's story

Marcelina is 53 years old and for the last 30 years has been married to her husband Luis, who is 64. They did not have any biological children, but they were able to adopt four children. Two of the children are now married and living independently, and they other two still live at home. She has had a grocery store for eight years. She started with the help of her husband, who used his earnings from growing crops to help start the business. The income from this business now covers the household expenses as well as school fees. She is seeking a loan in order to buy noodles, flour, oil, herbs, tapioca, cookies, candy and drinks, which are the top-selling items in her business. This will enable her to offer a greater variety of products to her customers and allow for the possibility of increasing her income.
