A loan of $775 helped a member to buy fertilizers and rice seeds for her farmland.

Loem's Group's story

Originally from a rural village of the Thmor Koul district of Battambang province, Loem is a 35-year-old married mother of four children who are dependent on her and still in school. Rice farming has been the main source of her family’s income for 10 years, and to better support the family and help to earn more income, her husband works as a paid worker. Together, they can earn about 24,000 KHR (Cambodaian riels) per day to meet family’s needs, and they manage to save about 10,000 KHR each day for future needs.

Loem’s group consists of three members who have been with VisionFund for one loan cycle and completely repaid the loan. The first loan has helped Loem better support her family members. Now, she is leading her group to apply for a loan. Loem wants to use her portion to buy fertilizers and rice seeds for her farmland. With this loan, she hopes to grow her rice fruitfully and healthily, and also hopes to make more income to improve her standard of living and keep her children in school.
