A loan of $275 helped to buy a water dispenser and a television.

George's story

George is a 26-year-old, married man. He has a child, who is three years old. He operates a retail business, selling baked goods, which he delivers by motorcycle. He has been involved in this business for 14 years. His business is located at a viable business area, and his primary customers are local residents from the peri-urban area around Nairobi.

He says his biggest business challenge is stiff competition within the area. He will use the KES 21,370 loan to buy a water dispenser and a television. His business goal is to improve his business within five years. He hopes that in the future, he will run a bakery and be the best supplier of cakes in his area. George has taken three previous loans from SMEP DTM, which he has managed to repay successfully.
