A loan of $600 helped buy organic fertilizer.

Gualberta's story

Gualberta is a 47-year-old, hardworking woman who lives accompanied by her husband, Roman. They have 5 children but only live with one of them, Emerson, who she cares for in the house that she inherited 37 years ago.

Her day centers around taking care of her young son and growing her crops. She has been growing potatoes, corn, wheat, and habas (a broad bean), among others. She says that her land is located in the vast plains of the area that borders the river. For this reason, she doesn't suffer many loses in her harvest. "My village is productive and my crops sell for good prices. In addition, I work raising cows, from which I make cheese," she says.

It is for this reason that she works without rest, for she has to sell her cheese during the day in addition to taking care of her fields. She sells her crops in the city, during the weekly market.

This is the first loan that she is getting with Kiva. She is thankful for the support and in addition promises to be punctual in making her payments. Gualberta will invest her 1500 sols (US$600) in buying organic fertilizer for her crops.
