A loan of $3,950 helped a member to buy fruit.

Amistad Eterna Group's story

The Communal Bank “Amistad Eterna” (Eternal Friendship) is starting its fifth loan cycle with Pro Mujer as part of the Senkata Community Center. This group consists of nine members and is led by a Board of Directors headed by Sra. Verónica as its president. The members of the Communal Bank engage in various businesses such as weaving blankets, making mattresses, managing a neighborhood store, and selling food.

This loan will benefit small businesswomen, such as Sra. Verónica. She says that she has participated in two loan cycles since joining Pro Mujer after receiving an invitation from a friend who is also a member of the organization. Verónica currently has a business of selling fruit. She learned this line of work through her own initiative and used a small amount of savings to start her business.

The loan she is receiving now will be used to increase her capital for buying fruit. She acquires her inventory from wholesale vendors in the city of La Paz and then sells the goods from her sales post. Working in this manner enables her to generate income to maintain her household. Verónica is in a common-law relationship and has one child.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, Verónica says that she enjoys the savings and the training seminars about health and credit.
