A loan of $225 helped to buy farming supplies, to pay the rent on his land and to buy food.

Santos Evaristo's story

Santos is a small-scale farmer who grows beans, wheat and corn. He has more than 20 years experience in this line of work because his parents started him growing these crops when he was young. They are highly nutritious foodstuffs which form an important part of the Nicaraguan diet as beans are the basic ingredient of the traditional dish 'gallo pinto', and wheat and corn are used to make the delicious tortillas which are indispensable to Nicaraguan cuisine.

Santos is grateful to the people who will support him in his noble cause by providing loans to entrepreneurial farmers so that they can fulfill their dreams. Without this opportunity, they would be unable to grow their businesses and support their families.
