A loan of $800 helped a member to buy more hair products and extensions for her salon.

Mable's Group's story

Mable's group is comprised of 7 hard-working women. Mable is 19 years old and lives in Kiyinda, Uganda. For the past 2 years, Mable has been working hard to manage her salon where she does hair dressing.

To help expand her business, Mable has requested a loan of 300,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more hair products and extensions for the salon and will help Mable to generate greater profits and pay school fees for herself. Mable hopes that in the future she will be able to build a house.

Mable is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities and a forum for life-skills training.
