Oliva's Group's story

Oliva's group is comprised of 9 hard working women. Oliva is 20 years old and lives in the town of Mubende in Uganda. She is married and has one child. For the past 3 years, Oliva has been working hard to manage her small fruit business.
To help expand her business, Oliva has requested a loan of 300,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more sugarcane, and bananas to sell, and will help Oliva to generate greater profits and boost her business and add different fruits. Oliva hopes that in the future she will be able to live a better life.
Oliva is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.
