A loan of $250 helped to buy ingredients for baking bread.

Gemima's story

30-year-old Gemima is married and has two children. She loves her children and strives to provide them with the best. She lives in her own home together with her family. Gemima's business is making and selling bread. She learned this trade by studying at an occupational training center. Gemima has a hand-made clay oven in her home which she uses for her business. However, unfortunately it experienced a problem and collapsed. For this reason, she is currently using a rented gas oven.

Gemima has been in this business for more than two years and, during this time, she has become very well known for the good quality of her products. Her sister helps her in the business, making and selling bread. Gemima considers her business to be profitable because it allows her to cover her needs and provide her children with a good education, though she does not like how tired she gets baking bread all day. However, she doesn't become discouraged and says that she hopes to continue growing her business and build her own oven.

This is Gemima's third loan through Kiva and she feels grateful for the financial support which enables her to make progress in her business. On this occasion, she is requesting 600 soles so that she can buy ingredients that she uses in baking her bread such as flour, butter, yeast, etc.
