A loan of $1,375 helped a member to buy fertilizers, pesticides and seeds for her farmland.

Doung's Group's story

Living in a wooden house located in the Kampong Cham district of Dambae province, Doung is 47 years old and married. She has five children, two of whom are dependents and still in school. To make a living, she and her husband have been farming rice on three hectares of farmland and cassava on two hectares of farmland for 20 years. They earn about 55,000KHR per day, from which they manage to save about 20,000KHR daily for future needs.

This is the fourth micro loan for Doung with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund, while the other group members have received from one to three loans. Doung's past three loans, fully repaid, have helped her improve her living standards and supported her children’s education. She is now leading her group to request a new loan with VisionFund. As the leader, Doung wants to use her portion to buy fertilizers, pesticides and seeds for her farmland. She hopes to grow her business and earn a larger income to improve her standard of living and keep her children in school.
