A loan of $825 helped a member to buy fertilizer, rice seeds, and gasoline.

Sroeung's Group's story

Residing under a wooden house located in Kampong Cham province’s Prey Chhor district, Sroeung is 53 years old and has two children who are currently studying at the local state school. The primary source of her income is from rice cropping while the supplementary income is from rice milling service. She has been with this business for 15 years and is able to generate about 43,000 KHR per day. The main challenge for her business is the shortage of working capital to support her farmland. To overcome this challenge, she formed a group of five people to apply for a new loan. This is the first microloan for Sroeung with VisionFund, Kiva’s partner. The total requesting loan amount of her group is 3,200,000 KHR, of which 800,000 KHR is her loan portion. As a group leader, she will use her loan portion to buy fertilizer, rice seed, and to buy gasoline for her mini tractor to support her farmland. She hopes to get a triple yield from her crops and multiple her income.
