Kin is 53 years old and a mother of three children. She makes a living from her 1½ hectare rice farm with support from her husband. She makes about 21,000 KHR and has been rice farming for 20 years.
After two successful past loans, Kin feels empowered to improve her lifestyle even more than before. She can now afford to buy a television and radio. She is seeking a loan of 1,500,000 KHR to buy potash, rice seed, and pesticide for her farmland. She hopes that her fields produce a high yield and make triple the profit for her family’s sake.
About VisionFund Cambodia
VisionFund Cambodia is a Christian organization and microfinance institution that provides small loans and other financial services to improve the lives of children, empower poor women and their families, and grow successful businesses. The organization works primarily in rural parts of Cambodia and has distinguished itself by targeting the very poor who require smaller loan sizes, regardless of religious beliefs, gender or ethnic background.
Kiva lenders’ funds will help the organization to expand into the northeastern provinces of the country, which have historically been underserved and difficult to reach with financial services.
