Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $1,325 helped a member to buy fertilizer and to pay the water-pumping fee.

Khorn's Group's story

A married woman from Battambang province, Khorn is a peasant in the local area who grows rice and pineapple to earn a living. The 10-year engagement in the current business returns her about 15,000 KHR (Cambodian riels) per day. Khorn has been with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner) for the past three loan cycles. After the successful past loans, she feels confident that she can improve her livelihood greater than before.

Now, she forms a group of other three females to apply for a new loan. She and another two joint members are each seeking 1,400,000 KHR, while the remaining co-borrower is applying for 1,000,000 KHR. As a group leader, she will use her loan portion to buy fertilizer, and to pay the water-pumping fee for her pineapple plantation. She does believe that she can gain double yield from her crops; thereby, she can make more income to build a new house for her family.
