A loan of $1,500 helped to buy tarps, towels, and bed sheets.

Leonor Mercedes's story

The Junín Communal Bank meets every 15 days in the canton of Junín. This place is known for its friendly people. The best brandy in the province and all of Ecuador is distilled here.

Sra. Leonor lives in this place. She is 74 years old. Her husband died several years ago, so she has been a widow since that time. Leonor has 12 grown children and two of them live at her house with their families.

Doña Leonor intended to earn her own income so that she could move forward without having to depend on anyone. She sells bed sheets, towels, tarps, and other items. Leonor works with one of her children and they travel to other cities in order to buy merchandise to sell. She also sells by accepting orders from customers who submit their requests in advance. Leonor extends credit for her merchandise and collects payment every 15 days. She buys the merchandise in Santo Domingo every 15 days or monthly based on what is needed. Leonor has been in business for more than 15 years and continues to provide for her daily needs.

This loan will be used to buy tarps, towels, and bed sheets. Leonor has been with the Communal Bank from the beginning and always enjoys the assistance that has been given to her. Her dream is to move forward in good health.
