A loan of $625 helped to buy zinc sheeting, iron, cement, blocks, sand and other materials to construct a wall and repair the roof of her bakery.

Mayra Del Socorro's story

Mayra is 66 years old, married and has five children. She is from a humble and hardworking family. Her husband is a baker, so 32 years ago Mayra and her husband started a bakery because they needed to get ahead. They started with very little, but with sacrifice and effort they have been able to get ahead.

Mayra and her husband supply their community with baked goods, and they are very well known for their experience. The premises of the bakery – which is located in Mayra’s home – have deteriorated over the years, and Mayra would like to repair it. Mayra is requesting this loan to do some repairs to the bakery such as change part of the roof and construct a small wall. Mayra says these repairs are needed because winter is approaching and the bakery could flood, which would cause serious losses for her business.
