Araceli's story

Araceli is a native of San Rafael del Sur, Nicaragua. She used to work in a bakery from seven in the morning until one in the afternoon making cakes. After arriving home from the bakery, she would go back out to sell household items and various new styles of clothing to a growing number of customers. She realized that she could not keep up with her sales working only half a day, so she left her job at the bakery to work at her business full-time.

Araceli takes orders for products on one-month terms of credit in seven districts of her municipality. She says it is incredible how many customers she has been able to attract.

Araceli says she has received other loans that she invested in her business and her home. Her husband works operating heavy machinery, and with his help they are getting ahead with the education of their children and with their home, which they have built through much effort and sacrifice. Araceli and her husband are a young couple who have learned to work and fight to improve their living conditions.
