A loan of $1,000 helped to buy urea, insecticides, liquid pesticides, and animal feed made from rice and corn.

Lourdes Rocio's story

Lourdes, 40, is in a common-law marriage and has 6 children. She lives with her husband and children in the city of Ventanas, in the Los Rios province.

The communal bank "Bendición de Dios" meets in Recinto Rancho Grande in the Puerto Pechiche parish. The members work in agriculture and animal husbandry.

Lourdes is a farmer who cultivates corn and rice. She also raises animals such as hens, pigs, ducks, and turkeys. She is requesting a loan to buy urea, insecticides, liquid pesticides, and animal feed made from rice and corn.

With the help of this loan, she will be able to buy the agricultural supplies that she needs. She makes her purchases in Ventanas. Her dream is to be able to get ahead, thanks to the loan that she's being granted by the Cooperative. Her main challenge is that she doesn't have her own land.

In her free time, Lourdes enjoys helping her children with their schoolwork.
