Ana Maria

Bolivia
La Paz, Bolivia / Grocery Store

A loan of $725 helped to purchase merchandise for her store, and to renovate her home because the rainy season has affected its infrastructure.

Ana Maria's story

Ms. Ana is 58 years old. She runs a neighborhood store, where she sells sugar, rice, milk, soft drinks, and liquor that she purchases in the in the Pabon zone in the city of La Paz. This loan is her second cycle with this lending institution. Ms. Ana will use the money from this loan to buy merchandise for her store, as well for the renovation of her home, because the large amount of rain has affected its infrastructure. Her reason for asking for the loan is because she needs money to invest in her business. She was motivated to apply for a Kiva loan because of the benefits it provides. Ms. Ana faces some challenges with her business, such as that her store does not have a good location as it is a little hidden from the main street, but it is doing well nonetheless because she has a good clientele. She will use the loan benefits to buy merchandise such as: rice, sugar, noodles, instant soups, soft drinks, juices, and other items at wholesale to save money and maximize her profits. Her dream is to improve her home, remodeling it and making it more habitable.
