A loan of $1,500 helped buy cattle.

Moustapha's story

Mr. Moustapha is a married man of 59 years and father of four children. He lives with his wife and children in a polygamous family in Bougouni.

After attending Koranic school he unsuccessfully tried his hand at several activities. After serious reflection, he decided to learn the cattle trade business from his uncle. Thanks to a small business fund from a brother, he decided to start his own business in the same field as many members of his ethnicity, namely trading animals, in particular cattle.

With over 15 years' experience, he knows the business well and is much sought after and appreciated.

Having fully repaid seven previous loans, he is now on his eighth loan. Given the degree of turnaround of his business he decided to anticipate the final refund on his previous loan. With this new loan he intends to buy 13 oxen.

He buys in Bougouni and the surrounding area. Sales are held at the cattle market in Bougouni. His customers consist primarily of butchers and traders from Bamako.

With this loan, he expects to achieve monthly profits of 175,000 FCFA which will serve to meet family expenses, repay the loan and expand his business.
