A loan of $300 helped buy forging equipment.

Adama's story

Born in Kebila in the Kolondieba district, Adama is a 34-year-old married man, father of three children, who lives with his wife and children in the Massablcoura neighborhood of Bougouni.

He dropped out of school at an early age in favor of income-generating activities. For years he tried various activities such as the retail sale of sundries but without success. He eventually opted to learn the blacksmith trade including the manufacture and sale of plows and hoes. With more than ten years' experience, he has mastered his activity.

In need of funding he decided to collaborate with Soro Yiriwaso to buy 48 kg of iron, 10 bags of charcoal and the remainder destined to purchase lumber.

He gets his supplies in Bamako, capital of the Republic of Mali. It is his second loan with Soro Yiriwaso. The previous loan was repaid correctly. His workshop is situated along the road connecting Bougouni to Sikasso. Sales are conducted in his workshop and in the weekly markets. His customers are farmers for the most part

He hopes to achieve monthly profits of 30,000 FCFA, which will be used to cover family expenses and be reinvested in the business.
