Danaya Group

The Danaya group consists of eight married women who are on average 46 years old with 5 children. They live in traditional extended families with husbands, co-wives, brothers and sons In the Niebala neighborhood of the city of Bougouni. They became acquainted through neighborhood ties, friendship and commerce.

To strengthen their financial capacity and improve their trade business, they joined the Soro Yiriwaso micro-finance institution where they are on their second loan. The previous loan was repaid correctly.

This group of women sells grain, like Alima who is sitting in the middle of the front row. She intends use the loan to buy 1.5 tons of grain from local peasant producers. She performs her sales at the market and through home delivery, at retail prices for cash and credit to both men and women customers.

She expects to make an average monthly profit of 25.000 FCFA to be invested in the business and used to repay the loan.

Le groupe DANAYA est constitué de 8 femmes toutes mariées ayant une moyenne d’âge de 46 ans et 5 enfants. Elles vivent dans des familles traditionnelles élargies avec leurs maris, coépouses, frères et fils dans le quartier Niebala de la ville de Bougouni.
Elles se sont connues à travers des liens de voisinage, d’amitié et de commerce. Pour renforcer leur capacité financière afin de mieux faire leur commerce, elles ont adhéré à l’institution de microfinance Soro Yiriwaso avec laquelle elles sont à leur deuxième prêt. Le précédent prêt a été correctement remboursé. Ce groupe de femmes fait le commerce de céréales
à l’image de ALIMA assise au milieu de la rangée de devant. Elle compte acheter avec son prêt, 1,5 tonne de céréales avec les paysans producteurs de la zone. Elle effectue ses ventes au marché et à domicile, en détail au comptant et à crédit à une clientèle composée d’hommes et de femmes.
Elle envisage réaliser un bénéfice mensuel moyen de 25.000FCFA qui sera investi dans les activités et rembourser le prêt.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.
