Danaya Group's story

The Danaya group consists of eight married women who are on average 46 years old with 5 children. They live in traditional extended families with husbands, co-wives, brothers and sons In the Niebala neighborhood of the city of Bougouni. They became acquainted through neighborhood ties, friendship and commerce.

To strengthen their financial capacity and improve their trade business, they joined the Soro Yiriwaso micro-finance institution where they are on their second loan. The previous loan was repaid correctly.

This group of women sells grain, like Alima who is sitting in the middle of the front row. She intends use the loan to buy 1.5 tons of grain from local peasant producers. She performs her sales at the market and through home delivery, at retail prices for cash and credit to both men and women customers.

She expects to make an average monthly profit of 25.000 FCFA to be invested in the business and used to repay the loan.
