Benkadi Group

The Benkadi group consists of five married women and one single woman who are on average 36 years old with 4 children. They live in traditional extended families in the Niebala neighborhood of the city of Bougouni.

They became acquainted through neighborhood ties, friendship and commerce. To strengthen their financial capacity and improve their business, they joined the Soro Yiriwaso microfinance institution where they are on their first loan.

This group of women is active in the retail trade of onions, fruits and vegetables. Fanta is an example, who is sitting at the middle with a yellow bucket. She intends to use the loan to buy 15 bunches of bananas from peasant producers. She sells at the market and through home delivery, retail for cash and credit to both women and men customers.

She expects to make an average monthly profit of 15.000 FCFA which will be invested in the business and used to repay the loan.

Le groupe BENKADI est constitué de 5 femmes mariées et 1 femme célibataire ayant une moyenne d’âge de 36 ans et 4 enfants. Elles vivent dans des familles traditionnelles élargies dans le quartier NIEBALA de la ville de Bougouni.
Elles se sont connues à travers des liens de voisinage, d’amitié et de commerce. Pour renforcer leur capacité financière afin de mieux faire leur commerce, elles adhérent à l’institution de microfinance Soro Yiriwaso avec laquelle elles sont à leur premier prêt. Ce groupe de femmes fait le commerce d’oignon et des fruits et légumes à l’image de FANTA, assise devant au milieu avec un seau jaune. Elle compte acheter avec son prêt, 15 régimes de banane avec les paysans producteurs. Elle effectue ses ventes au marché et à domicile, en détail au comptant et à crédit à une clientèle composée de femmes et d’hommes.
Elle envisage réaliser un bénéfice mensuel moyen de 15.000FCFA qui sera investi dans les activités et rembourser le prêt.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.
