Knarik's story

Knarik is 64 years old. She lives in Ninotsminda district with her 68-year-old husband, two sons, retired mother in-law, daughter in-law and an infant grandchild. The family has two milk cows and a pig farm. Pigs are sold as meat. Knarik milks the cows to make dairy products, which she sells locally in the markets. In addition, Knarik’s older son is a seller in a cloth shop, and he receives a small monthly salary. Knarik has applied for a loan to buy food for her pigs. She will feed the pigs better, which will make them grow bigger. Bigger pigs will be sold for higher prices, and Knarik will make more profit. The increased income will help her big family to have better living conditions.
