A loan of $1,225 helped a member to lease an additional plot of farmland and to renovate her house.

Yem's Group's story

Yem is 48 years old and a widow with three children. As a single mother, she overcomes the daily cost of living in her family via cassava cultivation on one hectare of farmland. Engaging in the current business, she is able to earn up to 19,000 KHR per day and saves about 9,000 KHR per day.

Yem’s prior loan was her original loan with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). She has repaid her past loan wisely to relieve her family’s burden in providing daily food for the entire household as the breadwinner in the family.

Now, Yem leads a group of four. The total requested loan amount is 4,800,000 KHR. For Yem, she will use her loan portion in the amount of 1,200,000 KHR in order to lease an additional plot of farmland to grow her cassava. She hopes to gain more yield from her cassava and sustain her lifestyle progressively.
