A loan of $1,025 helped a member to buy pesticides and fertilizer for her farmland.

Thouch's Group's story

Thouch, 60, is a married mother of four who lives in a rural area in the Sangke district where crop farming is a common way to make a living. One of her children is dependent on her and still in school. The sources of her family’s income are rice farming on a five-hectare area of farmland and working for others for a fee. She and her husband have been in these businesses for 30 years. This is the fifth loan for Thouch with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund, and she successfully used the past loans to relieve her family’s financial burden and increase her family’s income. With the need to support her business, she is now leading her group to apply for another loan. Thouch will use this loan to buy pesticides and fertilizer for her farmland. With this loan, she hopes to increase her crop yields so as to expand her paddy business to improve her family’s lifestyle.
