A loan of $725 helped a member to buy a bevel motor, which he will use in his carpentry business.

Sophat's Group's story

Sophat is aged 32 and married. He has one daughter, and she is still small. He lives in a wooden house, located in the Ek Phnom district, Battambang province. To make a living, Sophat has been working as a carpenter in the village for several years. The current business earns him approximately 33,000 KHR per day, and he can manage to save about 10,000 KHR each day, after daily living expenses. This is the third microloan for Sophat’s group, which is comprised of two members. Sophat completely repaid his past two loans with VisionFund, which have helped him to make a better living. Now, he is leading his group to request a new loan with VisionFund. As the leader, he wants to use his portion of the loan to buy a bevel motor, which he will use in his carpentry business. He hopes this loan will enable him to earn more income from his current business, so as to improve his standard of living.
