Emelinda is 53 years old, and is married with six children. She lives in Jimenez, Misamis Occidental.
She owns and operates a farm on which she grows vegetables to sell in the local community to earn a living. She has been in her business for over eight years and earns 7,000PHP every month.
She has been a member of GDMPC since 2007, and now she has requested a loan of 8,000PHP to purchase fertilizer such as manure. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of her family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
