A loan of $1,500 helped to build a barn in order to raise pigs.

Weimar Alan's story

Sr. Weimar is 23 years old and unmarried. He lives with his parents and also works on their land, which is located in the community of Chuya Yacu, some 25 km. from the city of Monteagudo. He raises and sells broiler chickens in his small barnyard. He sells four times a year and earns an income from this one business to cover not only his own costs of food and clothing, but also those of his parents and brother.

Weimar is requesting a loan in order to build a barn. He wants to raise pigs because he is a professional in the field and knows a great deal due to the fact that he previously worked for the National Service of Agricultural Health and Food Safety (SENASAG) as an Assistant Animal Health Officer. Consequently he has the experience to engage in this activity and thus earn more income so that he can acquire his own land. He wants to work his own land, build a little house and have a better life.
