A loan of $5,425 helped to pay for electricity changes, bathroom and fitting room renovations, flooring, paint and windows for her crafts and yarn store.

Amal's story

Amal is a longtime owner of a small crafts and yarn store in her village. For quite some time now, she has been looking into ways to diversify her stock and increase her income. Amal also creates crafts, jewelry and designs, but her shop is so tiny that there is no room for new displays or for new products. Amal had the opportunity to move her store to a new larger location, in a building her late parents left to her and her brothers. The family divided the building and Amal has the street entrance store. The location is more central, not far from her original shop, but more convenient for customers and also in an area with foot traffic. It is larger and provides much better opportunity for sales. Amal needed this loan to assist in paying for renovations, electricity changes, bathroom and fitting room renovations, flooring, paint and windows. Amal has the opportunity to increase her income simply through the move. Even if she keeps her existing products, the location and layout make for much more customer potential. It also gives her the opportunity to sell the products she creates at full profit. In the future, she wants to introduce new products including evening gowns and specialty clothes.
