Gertrude's story

Gertrude is married, with four children and all her children go to school. She also takes care of two orphans. She has a business of tailoring and has been in this business for five years.

She has applied for a loan of UGX 1,000,000/= (Uganda shillings) from Micro Credit for Development and Transformation SACCO (MCDT SACCO) to buy more rolls of clothing material and thread. She also generates additional income through teaching and bridal ware. She sells on wholesale only and works six days out of every week. Her major business challenge includes seasonality and defaulters. She is aspiring to build her own business premises and also to own a bridal ware shop.

She resides in her own house and the family has access to electricity and piped water. Her monthly expenses include school fees and feeding the family.
