Juliet's' Group's story

Juliet's group is comprised of 13 hard-working women. Juliet is 16 years old and lives in Kiyinda, Uganda. For the past 2 years, Juliet has been working hard to manage her restaurant.

To help expand her business, Juliet has requested a loan of 300,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more ingredients to make food to sell and will help Juliet to generate greater profits and expand her restaurant into a bigger one. Juliet hopes that in the future she will be able to buy a plot of land and build a house.

Juliet is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities and a forum for life-skills training.
