A loan of $1,100 helped to buy food spices.

Michael Andres's story

Michael lives in Guayaquil and is 19 years old. He started his business after his parents separated and he stayed with his father. It was his father who taught him this business of selling food spices.

He does this work on his own from 7 in the morning to 3 or 4 in the afternoon, and then helps his father in an auto repair shop.

He is afraid of crime, as the area where he lives and has his business is very dangerous.

He is not married and has no children, so what he earns in his work goes toward the household expenses and for supporting himself.

With the loan he wants to buy spices. His dream for the future is to set up a wholesale spice distributorship at a shop, and this way be able to have more money and help his father with his needs.
