A loan of $200 helped to pay her workers.

Agustina's story

Agustina, age 60, is a widow. She has the satisfaction of knowing that her two sons, Walter and Henry, are good people. Agustina has a home that was built from solid materials after many years of work. Producing cacao and organic coffee is a tradition in her family. Thanks to a few plots of land she received as an inheritance from her parents, she has been able to consolidate them into a source for generating income over the years. She is pleased to know that her work has brought forth satisfactory results and that her land is quite fertile. Occasionally she has to deal with pests and diseases that considerably hamper her production.

Despite these challenges, Agustina has always relied on the support of local workers to handle the heavy-duty tasks so that she can generate income to support herself. Since she is in the middle of the growing season, Agustina is in need of capital so that she can proceed with the second round of weeding. Therefore, she wants to hire additional labor.

Her long-term plans include finishing the construction of her home and renting out rooms to people on an extended basis. She hopes to have a steady income for when she does not have the sufficient level of strength to keep working. Agustina is requesting 500 PEN so that she can pay her workers and proceed with the second rounding of weeding, which is essential for obtaining a quality harvest.
