A loan of $775 helped to buy sewing materials such as fabric and needles, among others.

Mary's story

Mary, 58, is a friendly and very responsible woman. She is married to José, with whom she has two children who are already independent. She lives comfortably in her own house with her husband.

Mary's work consists of cutting and making items of clothing, as well as repairing clothing for her friends, neighbors, and relatives. When they need someone to make them new clothing, they don't hesitate to go to her house to ask her to carry out the sewing that they require.

She is very good at her work and she has had this business for 20 years. Therefore, she has many clients and she always has orders. She works alone, but when she has large orders she hires other people who she pays for their services. She decided to open her business because she wanted to give a good quality of life to her children, and the money her husband earns did not cover their basic home expenses.

She hopes that in the future, she will be able to buy more machines and offer her clients a better service. This will be her fourth loan with Kiva. She is very happy to have access to these loans, because they are of great help to her in increasing her working capital. With the requested amount of 2000 Peruvian soles, she will buy more sewing materials, such as fabric, cotton, thread, and other necessary materials.
