A loan of $600 helped to buy food supplies and soft drinks.

Deisy Maria's story

Deisy is 40 years old and lives in the south of the city, where she works selling fast food and lunches. Her mother-in-law first came up with this idea and told it to Deisy and her husband. They now work together with their children, 2 of whom are 24 and 29 and one is 9 years old. All her sales are made in cash, same with her purchases. In her daily life she works from 5 in the morning to 1 in the afternoon.

Her goal is to have her business grow and increase her number of customers, generating a greater output with which to serve them. Currently she is applying for a Kiva loan, her second loan with Fundación Mario Santo Domingo, because she needs to buy a greater volume of food supplies and soft drinks. This will let her get them at better prices and be more competitive in the market. Her goal is to convert her business into a large restaurant, which will help her to buy her own home and have a stronger financial backing.
