Esi is married and has seven children. She has received no formal education. Esi sells wakey (a traditional Ghanaian rice dish) in Akonoma (near Cape Coast), which she has done for 30 years. Her husband is a farmer.
Esi uses her income to help her support her husband and pay the family's general expenses. Esi will use the loan to purchase ingredients to prepare her wakey recipe. With the new profits from her expanded business, Esi plans to further expand her enterprise and venture into newer markets.
