A loan of $400 helped to purchase plantains and regional fruits.

Dora's story

Dora, 20 years old, is a friendly and very charismatic woman. She is married and the mother of a three-year-old son. She lives with her family in her own home. Her work consists of purchasing bunches of plantains from the communities surrounding the city. Then she sells them from her home and at times she sells them on the street to her neighbors, friends and relatives. She always has fresh, high-quality plantains. She has run this business for about three years. She enjoys her work because she can earn extra income and thus contribute to household expenses. She believes it is profitable because her products are in high demand. She hopes to continue expanding her business because it is helping her to improve many aspects of her life.

This will be her first loan from KIVA and she is very grateful for the help provided because it will help her to continue with her business. With the sum of S/. 1,000 she has requested, she will buy plantains in greater quantities and then re-sell them. She will also purchase fruit to add to her daily sales.
