A loan of $600 helped to buy fish.

Yolanda's story

Yolanda is 53 years old. She is a hardworking and optimistic woman. She is married to Rómulo, with whom she has four children, aged 30, 21, 15 and 11. She owns her own home where she lives with her children and husband, with whom she works every day to offer her family a better quality of life. Yolanda's work is selling fish. She goes early to the main port in the city seeking the largest and freshest fish. From there she goes to the highway, because that is where she sets up her booth, since she has customers who wait for her to buy her fish, that she offers at a good price. She has been doing this work for about 10 years and what she doesn't like is that she has to leave her children, a sacrifice she has to make because she has to give them the best and have income for the home. She hopes to be able to consolidate more with her sales and open a store selling fresh and dried fish. This will be her first Kiva loan. She is very grateful for the opportunity that has been offered by the institution to increase her capital. She is committed to making her payments on time. With the amount she has asked for, 1500 soles, she will buy a larger quantity of fish as well as ice and some other materials that she needs to be able to keep doing her job.
